Hello families. Week 8 already! Hard to believe. We did our final CMJ 1 and 2 lessons today. Everyone worked through their lessons with ease. It is so exciting to walk by and see hands in Middle C position, songs being played, smiles on faces:) We also spent time talking about some of the composers who taught us this term. We finished up our time playing on the school piano.  The kids are getting so good with their solos! This week, remind your child to work on Ode to Joy for our ensemble piece. And be sure to mark Thursday June 7th @ 10:45am in your calendars. Come join us for our year end open house!

Level 1B (Ella)

Today we reviewed lesson 21 (Ode To Joy) with Mr. Lobos, and played in the Games Room.  Ella’s hand position and fluidity when playing are so encouraging!

This Week At Home:

You can review lesson 21 in the Library, and practice with Miss Melody in the Practice Room. Keep working on Ode to Joy this week, and practice Mary Had a Little Lamb (from the repertoire section in your workbook) to perform at our open house.

Level 2A (Brianna)

We did lesson 39 (Bar Lines and 4/4 Time Signature) in CMJ2 today. Brianna learned that each measure can only have 4 beats in it, no more, no less.

This Week At Home:

Review lesson 39 in the Library, and practice with Miss Melody in the Practice Room. Keep working on I Am Tall and Ode to Joy at home.

Level 2B (James)

Today we did lesson 50 (Playing with a Steady Beat) with Mr. Satie in CMJ2. Today Mr. Satie taught us that playing with a steady beat is actually even more important that playing the right notes!

This Week At Home:

Review lesson 50 in the Library, and practice with Miss Melody in the Practice Room. This week, work on your new songs, I Love Broccoli and Banjo.

Level 2C (Lola)

Today we did lesson 58 (Ties) with Mr. Chopin. Today Lola learned that a tie is a tool that composers can use to make notes that are too long to fit in just one measure. (Although Lola already knew that when she arrived at class- great work at home!)

This Week At Home:

Review lesson 58 in the Library and practice with Miss Melody. You have completed all the worksheets from 2B in your workbook, so you may begin the 2C worksheets, and continue to work on Banjo and Ode to Joy.

See you all next Thursday!
